Oliver Yates, Independent Candidate for Kooyong, has today asked Josh Frydenberg to provide evidence that he had no role in the coup which removed Malcolm Turnbull from office.
“How can someone who was immediately promoted after the removal of the Prime Minister, seriously claim that he had no role in the events which led up to it,” said Mr Yates.
“His claims that he had “no role” have never been proven or disproven. The Liberal Party simply refuses to answer questions about the events.
“It is well-known that Mr Frydenberg’s priorities are himself and his own career. So it’s curious that someone who benefited so much, with a meteoric rise from a Minister to the Treasurer, a substantial promotion and increase in pay, would hardly have sat idle while the party tore itself apart.
“If Josh wants the votes of the people of Kooyong, he should be very clear about how came to find himself in the role of Treasurer.
“The people of Kooyong deserve a straight answer.
“He seems to be the master of not answering the question, but this is one that he surely must answer.
“The Liberals were in chaos before the election, they are in chaos now, and they will in chaos after the election.”
