Oliver Yates, former head of Australia’s $10 billion Clean Energy Finance Corporation, and former member of the Liberal Party, will contest the next Federal Election in the seat of Kooyong.
Mr Yates said he had to run because the Government has no integrity, and no credible approach to address the challenges we have as a nation.
“The government has no policy to address climate change. It’s negligent, and it threatens our safety, security and prosperity as a nation.”
“The government has no plan to provide the infrastructure for the growing population. People are fed up with lack of vision for the future.”
“I have invested in, and managed, renewable energy and infrastructure projects worth billions of dollars. I understand the challenges we face, and I understand what needs to be done.”
“How can anyone have confidence in the Liberal Party, who are more concerned with fighting with each other than working together to address the challenges, and they are serious challenges, we face.”
“Politics is broken. But, there is change coming. Around Australia, we’ve seen what happens when the local communities have their say. We’ve seen independents go to Canberra and push sensible, common sense change.”
“We need to restore trust. Without it, we can have no leadership. We need an integrity commission and to stop the dark money to politicians.”
“I’m standing so the people of Kooyong cannot just be taken for granted. I’ve been urged to run by members of my local community who are concerned about our future. Worried it’s getting hotter and more crowded, and that the government doesn’t seem to be listening.”
“It’s time to send the Liberals a message. You can’t treat Kooyong like an ATM. We demand to be heard.”
